Overview

Thank you for your interest in studying at UIC. We are here to help you with the admissions process.

Please see the sections below for the relevant information specific to prospective undergraduate and graduate/professional students

Application Instructions

Prospective Undergraduate Applicants

Step 1: Please write to us at undergradmail@uic.edu.  We will pair you with an admissions counselor who will provide individualized guidance according to your specific needs.

Step 2: Determine your program of interest and start an application.

If you are seeking an application as a First Year student, we use the Common Application. Please create an account and then include your Common App Identification Number (CAID) when you email us. We will then go in and manually extend the deadline so that you may submit a late application.

If you are seeking an application as a Transfer student, the application is available here
The deadline for Fall 2022 is May 15, 2022 but if you need an application after the deadline, you can email us and we can extend the deadline for you.

Please enter your permanent address in Ukraine and your current mailing address where you can be reached by post.  In general, most communications will be done by email.

Step 3:  Meet the admissions requirements to the best of your ability.  Admissions requirements can be found at admissions.uic.edu and on the website of your program of interest.  These generally include:

  • Your academic materials.  Ideally, the following items should be uploaded as part of your application.  Do your best to upload what you have:
    • First Year applicants should submit transcripts for all secondary coursework completed. Transfer applicants should submit transcripts for all post-secondary coursework completed.
    • Degree certificates or diplomas for any degrees you have earned
    • Score reports for any exams you have taken like TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE
    • Certified English translations of academic records.  If available, please upload any translations that your school may have provided.  If you do not have these readily available, your original language materials are sufficient.
  • English proficiency.
    • Let us know if you already have a TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE score.  You may upload a copy of the score report with your application.
    • If not, we will put you in touch with UIC's Tutorium in Intensive English (TIE).  They will coordinate a time to conduct an English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA) with you.  All ELPA fees are waived.
    • The language assessment will not be a barrier to admission.  It will allow us to determine if you are sufficiently prepared for academic study or if additional language support should be provided during your first months at UIC.
  • Fee assessments.  Both the application and international evaluation fee are waived.  When you arrive at the payment step, please indicate that you qualify for a waiver.  If applying as a Transfer student, you should select Departure due to Political Conflict/Duress - Ukraine as the waiver reason. If you are applying as a First Year student on the Common Application, you can indicate Member-specific waiver.

Step 4: Decision notification.  After your application is reviewed, you will be notified by email when a decision is ready.  This information will also be displayed on your application status page.
