Program Highlights

Industrial Engineering is where engineering meets business. It's the perfect career for people who like to solve practical problems in a variety of working environments and develop systems to improve quality and productivity.

Industrial engineers focus on how to get the work done most efficiently, balancing many factors—such as time, number of workers needed, available technology, actions workers need to take, achieving the end product with no errors, workers' safety, environmental concerns, and cost.

To find ways to reduce waste and improve performance, industrial engineers first study product requirements carefully. Then they use mathematical methods and models to design manufacturing and information systems to meet those requirements most efficiently.

GPPA Information

The GPPA program allows a limited number of first-year students per year to be admitted to UIC with guaranteed admission to the Master's degree program in industrial engineering.  Students follow a specific curriculum and meet established performance criteria to maintain guaranteed admission.
