Learn in a living, breathing lab

We believe no other college in America is as committed as we are to tackling urban, social and health issues and preparing the next generation of leaders who will revitalize our neighborhoods, our city, our state, our nation and our world.

That’s a big statement, but UIC has the academic prowess to back it up, and a living and breathing lab in which to learn, practice and study: Chicago.

UIC students benefit from internship programs with local business, nonprofits, community and governmental organizations, and access to some of the world’s finest cultural organizations. From master acting classes with Steppenwolf for theatre students, research seminars at the Newberry Library for students of the humanities , a joint program with Anthropology and the Field Museum, to clinical rotations at the area’s hospitals and clinics for the Health Sciences and so much more!

Research Programs

Research conducted by faculty at UIC often focuses on solving existing and emerging issues for Chicago and its region. At UIC, the city will be a living and breathing laboratory for students.

Safety in Chicago

Chicago is a big city, which means many wonderful resources and opportunities for its residents, as well as some challenges. We remind our students that living here, like in any metropolitan area, requires an awareness of safety concerns and a review of common sense tips.
