“Because of UIC’s location, I have access to outstanding internships and volunteer opportunities. Also, I can take part in blood drives, local activism movements and cultural exchanges.”

“UIC really teaches students to think about the world around them and then with the same lens think about their place in it.”

“My major requires me to have an internship. I find this aspect beneficial in preparing me for my future.”

“I believe I am on track with students from Ivy League schools, small liberal arts colleges and Big Ten universities. I feel I have been able to experience what others can only be taught.”

“The professors are passionate about their subject material and really make it easy for me to understand the topic that they’ve dedicated their lives to.”

“[UIC] has a program that I was interested in (Kinesiology); a good reputation as a research institution; it was centrally located in the city of Chicago to give me access to the surrounding area hospitals for volunteering.”

I loved that most of my classes were lab based. I have already applied so much of what I have learned in my classrooms to real-life situations.”

“The course work gives me the knowledge necessary to succeed, but there are so many other aspects of being a student at UIC. Research, volunteering and internships give me the opportunity to not only learn in a work environment, but also to see if I am making the right choice in terms of career.”

“Chicago offers so much so there is no excuse to say ‘I’m bored’ or ‘there’s nothing to do’. Take a look outside your window or take a walk to a new neighborhood; there is always something new to see, do, or learn from this city.”

“The best part about being in college in Chicago is living in the middle of the city! My next door neighbors are Michigan Avenue and State Street and I absolutely LOVE that. My dorm is right around the corner from Chicago’s famous Taylor Street, little Italy itself, as well as Greektown and Chinatown being almost walking distance from me. If I open my window in the dorm, I see the Sears Tower and how downtown lights up at night.”
